Envisioning a Future with “We Pledge”

The essence of “We Pledge” transcends a mere programme; it embodies a commitment to catalyse meaningful transformation. Engaging with this initiative allows corporations to make a tangible impact in critical areas such as economic empowerment, healthcare access, childcare, education, and the amplification of women’s voices in the political arena. This initiative serves as a testament to WAO’s belief in the influential power of the corporate sector to spearhead societal advancement.

Educational Endeavours and Awareness Expansion

Through a holistic curriculum, “We Pledge” aims to dismantle the foundations of gender-based violence and champion Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion (DEI). It seeks to eradicate unconscious gender biases with targeted training designed for HR professionals, leaders, and management teams. In alignment with this year’s Women’s International Day theme, “Count her in: Invest in women,” WAO is intensifying its efforts to ensure that women’s contributions are acknowledged and valued across all spheres.

A Legacy of Advocacy for Change

WAO’s dedication to fostering gender equality and ensuring workplace safety is longstanding. The organization has played a pivotal role in establishing the Gender Responsive Budget Group, drafting the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act 2022, and revising the Domestic Violence Prevention Act 1994. These achievements underscore WAO’s unwavering commitment to forging a more equitable and just society.

Highlighting the Economic Impact of Violence

A critical aspect that WAO brings to light is the intricate link between violence and economic instability. Gender-based violence, in particular, not only inflicts immediate harm but also precipitates long-term economic challenges, including infrastructure damage, asset destruction, forced displacement, rising unemployment, and inflation. “We Pledge” is poised to address these issues, aiming for a future where prosperity and peace prevail.
