Huawei Technologies Malaysia welcomes its new leader, Simon Sun Luyuan, stepping in as CEO. His appointment reflects the company’s unwavering dedication to aiding Malaysia’s digital economy growth.
In this capacity, Sun is tasked with guiding Huawei’s organisational strategies and objectives, upholding customer-focused communication across all platforms, and preserving the company’s fundamental principles.
Sun expressed his eagerness for the new role amidst a transformative time for Huawei Malaysia. He believes that by collectively leveraging intelligence, every sector can prosper, create value more rapidly, and attain sustained growth.
Alongside his new role, Sun reinforced Huawei’s commitment to collaborate with the government, customers, and partners throughout the value chain to stimulate the ICT industry in Malaysia’s digital evolution.

Before taking up the CEO position at Huawei Malaysia, Sun was at the helm of Huawei Korea since 2020. His tenure with the company dates back to 2006, during which he served in key roles across Huawei’s various international divisions.
As Malaysia aims to bolster its digital economy, the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI) unveils plans for the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP2030). The plan, which is set to launch in August, identifies five sectors critical to augmenting the intricacy of future exports. These sectors encompass aerospace, chemicals/ petrochemicals, digital economy, E&E (including medical devices), and pharmaceuticals.
