The first-ever SHEIN X Design Summit was held at City Market Social House in Los Angeles, California, by SHEIN, a leading international online retailer of apparel, accessories, and lifestyle goods. In order to honour independent designers and inspire them to use the company’s flagship incubator programme, to grow their businesses, the summit brought together hundreds of artists, designers, and business executives.
SHEIN X Design Summit Celebrates Independent Designers
The designers themselves, according to George Chiao, president of SHEIN in the United States, had the concept for the conference. We frequently ask our designers for input, and several of them expressed a desire for an educational opportunity where they could meet, get to know one another, and learn more about how to develop their businesses while also having fun. We believe we succeeded in doing that today, and we’ll keep looking for new methods to empower SHEIN X creators and enhance their participation in the initiative.
A Day-Long Summit of Designer-Dedicated Programming and Networking Opportunities
During the summit’s one day, LaQuan Smith, Laura Kim, Maeve Reilly, Gary Wassner, Evette, Racquel Natasha, and Josephine Skriver all spoke on panels. Moreover, networking possibilities were available. In-person attendees had the chance to network with stylists, merchandisers, buyers, influencers, and other business experts, including top-performing SHEIN X designers who gave their own reflections on the programme and guidance for other aspiring creatives.
SHEIN X Program: Empowering Aspiring Designers
The incubator programme has expanded from just seven designers at the time of the program’s debut in January 2021 to approximately 3,000 designers internationally, launching more than 25,000 unique works. Participants are guided through the whole process, from product creation to production, marketing, and supply chain logistics, thanks to SHEIN’s more than $55 million investment in the programme. Notably, SHEIN X creators continue to own their SHEIN X creations.
When SHEIN X was introduced, artists and designers from all over the world received commissions totalling more than $5 million. More than 20 designers from across the world showcased their individual collections at the Design Conference to highlight the achievements of its creators. Four designers, including Laura Kim and Maeve Reilly, were chosen to work with influential businesspeople as their mentors after the event. Future X and SHEIN X also announced a relationship through which each member will collaborate with a SHEIN X designer to introduce their own capsule line on the SHEIN platform.
