The political alliance Perikatan Nasional (PN) is on the brink of finalising their seat negotiations for the forthcoming state elections in six key regions, reveals Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, Vice-President of Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS).
Mokhtar, who also serves as the Menteri Besar of Terengganu, noted that of the 245 seats that PN aspires to secure across Kelantan, Terengganu, Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, Kedah and Penang, a scant five or six are still under discussion, according to reports from Free Malaysia Today.
“Given that the elections have yet to occur, we retain adequate time for resolution,” Mokhtar stated in a recent press conference in Kuala Terengganu.
Mokhtar further reported that the PAS and its PN ally, Bersatu, continue to debate one last seat from Terengganu’s 32-seat tally.

In addition, Mokhtar revealed that PAS intends to confer upon its election candidate nominations in the forthcoming meeting, although the specifics regarding time and place remain ambiguous.
Gerakan is the other constituent party of the PN coalition.
The aforementioned states are slated for elections this year due to the expiration of their current five-year term, beginning with Selangor on June 25 and culminating with Penang on August 2, unless their state assemblies choose to dissolve sooner.
