In a remarkable collaborative endeavor, homegrown lifestyle brand dUCk has teamed up with Barbie the Movie to introduce a novel line of fashion items. According to the brand, this partnership is a pioneering initiative in the country, marking the first time a local brand has collaborated with Barbie.
Reflecting on this distinctive collaboration, Vivy Yusof, co-founder of the dUCk Group, shared that the brand had first joined forces with Barbie in 2019, making it the world’s first modest fashion brand to do so.
“The initial two collaborations received a positive reception, but this recent collaboration is even more thrilling as it coincides with the release of ‘Barbie the Movie’,” Yusof said.
Emphasizing the shared values between dUCk and the movie, Yusof added, “The movie’s storyline, which depicts Barbie venturing into the real world, resonates deeply with our customers and dUCkies. The narrative of overcoming fear, finding strength amidst adversity, and forging ahead with courage and confidence echoes the values dUCk cherishes. Through this collaboration, we aim to disseminate this positivity and support to our customers.”
The ‘Barbie the Movie’ x dUCk limited edition collection boasts an array of the brand’s popular items, including scarves, shopping bags, and ready-to-wear pieces. Michelle Wan, Head of Consumer Products at Mattel South Asia, remarked, “The collaboration with dUCk and the Barbie movie elevates localization and adaptation to a new level, offering a unique and engaging crossover that appeals to a wider audience.”
Drawing inspiration from travel, self-discovery, and self-love, the collection introduces scarves in 10 distinct designs in both shawl and square styles, featuring dUCk’s signature satin silk material. The collection comes in a variety of vibrant colors, including blue, turquoise, fuchsia, and pink. The product names – ‘Barbie Dreams’, ‘Best Day Ever’, ‘Hey Blondie’, ‘Let’s Beach’, ‘The President’, and ‘I’m just Ken’ – further inject an element of playfulness into the collection.
Additionally, the collection’s ready-to-wear line underscores practicality, showcasing comfortable and stylish jumpers priced at RM320 each. Moreover, the collection also includes ‘Barbie the Movie’ x dUCk mini shopping bags, available at RM85.
The ‘Barbie the Movie’ x dUCk collection can be found on dUCk’s official website and app from 20 July till 28 July.
