In a bold move to expand its digital services, Malaysia’s renowned e-wallet service, Touch ‘n Go (TNG), has introduced a new feature called Goremit. This innovative addition to its service suite allows users to transfer funds to recipients in 10 different countries, further facilitating cross-border transactions.
Users of TNG’s e-wallet now have the option to direct funds to a recipient’s bank account, e-wallet, or even a physical cash pick-up location. However, the availability of these options varies by country. For instance, while users can enjoy the flexibility of all three methods when sending funds to the Philippines, transfers to Singapore are limited to bank account deposits.
This new feature currently supports transfers to 10 countries, including Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam. The promise of a swift transaction process stands out, with e-wallet and cash pick-up transfers completing in just 15 minutes. Bank account transfers may require more time, potentially up to 24 hours.
To take advantage of Goremit, users navigate to the financial services screen on the TNG e-wallet app and select the Goremit icon. From there, they can choose a country, select a transfer method, and specify an amount. Notably, the app automatically converts the transfer amount to the receiving country’s currency and displays the applicable transfer fee.
After entering the recipient’s personal details and the corresponding banking or e-wallet information, users can proceed with the transfer. Keep in mind, using Goremit does attract a service fee, which varies depending on the country and transfer method, ranging from RM8 to RM15.
For user convenience, Goremit allows storing up to 10 recipients and provides a history of active and past transfers. To ensure secure transactions, the service requires users to provide their bank account details for verification during the first-time use.
