In a groundbreaking event that has set a new benchmark in the Indian sneaker community, the highly anticipated capsule collection by Santanu Hazarika, in collaboration with the innovative lifestyle brand Comet, vanished from the shelves in an astonishing two hours of its launch on February 22, 2024. This collaboration marks a historic moment as the fastest-selling sneaker partnership in the country, showcasing the immense popularity and demand for unique, artistically driven footwear.

Comet, known for its daring designs and forward-thinking approach to sneakers, has once again proven its dominance in the streetwear arena. This collaboration with Santanu Hazarika, a revered figure in the sneaker world, represents a melding of artistic flair and a bold, unconventional spirit. The collection, limited to 300 pairs, is a testament to Comet’s commitment to innovation and its ability to captivate the fashion-conscious consumer with a blend of style, substance, and a strong message of self-expression.

Santanu Hazarika, whose name is synonymous with sneaker culture in India, brought his unique vision to this collaboration. The sneakers are not just footwear but a statement piece that embodies the intersection of underground art, pop culture, and the sneaker revolution. Drawing inspiration from punk, heavy metal, and anti-establishment themes, the designs feature vibrant colors, thorns, a shooting star with an eye, and collar tabs inscribed with ‘Silent’ and ‘Scream.’ These elements symbolize the unvoiced yet powerful expressions of rebellion, perfectly mirroring Hazarika’s distinctive sketchbook style and his ability to balance the quiet of rebellion with a loud, unapologetic proclamation.

Reflecting on the overwhelming success of the launch, Santanu Hazarika shared his excitement and gratitude, stating, “As an artist, having my own sneaker line was on my bucket list, so this is like my childhood dream come true! During the designing process, I had complete creative liberty. But naturally, there was some nervousness about this first-time collaboration. So, a complete sellout in only a few hours was definitely surprising! This has made me truly believe in the power of community.”

Utkarsh Gupta, Founder of Comet, expressed his delight at the response, remarking, “We are thrilled and humbled by the overwhelming response to our collaboration with Santanu Hazarika. The lightning-fast sellout of our limited edition drop in just two hours is a testament to the acceptance we as a brand have received from the vibrant community we are building with Comet. This collaboration between Santanu Hazarika and Comet not only marks a milestone in the sneaker industry but also signifies the growing influence of artists in shaping fashion and lifestyle trends, heralding a new era of creativity and innovation in India’s dynamic cultural landscape.
