Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – Last week, the International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition & Conference Malaysia (IGEM) 2023 rolled into town like a green tornado, leaving attendees both enlightened and inspired. With a history of success that could make even the most successful business green with envy (RM41 billion in business leads, 530,000 visitors, and a guest list spanning 112 countries since 2010), IGEM 2023 had a high bar to clear. But clear it, they did, and with eco-fabulous flair!
Under the banner of “Race Towards Net Zero: Leadership For Climate Action,” IGEM 2023 aimed high—RM4 billion in business leads, 400 exhibition booths, and 40,000 visitors from over 40 countries. A tall order? Perhaps. But as they say, “Go green or go home!”
The excitement was palpable as IGEM played a pivotal role in accelerating and delivering the region’s Net Zero and Just Energy Transition agenda. It seamlessly integrated exhibitors showcasing game-changing technology, insightful conferences, and fruitful business matching sessions. The result? A dynamic and impactful event that had attendees buzzing with ideas and inspiration.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, standing in for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, kicked off the festivities on Thursday, October 5th. Natural Resources, Environment, and Climate Change Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad chimed in, calling IGEM 2023 “timely, significant, and impactful,” which, in layman’s terms, means IGEM is the hottest party in town.
But the real highlight? The AtoZero Asean Summit & Exhibition. This summit brought together key decision-makers to explore pathways, policies, and business opportunities driving the global net-zero transition agenda. Minister Nik Nazmi stressed the importance of Malaysia reaching a consensus on regional inter-connectivity partnerships, energy storage, carbon capture, green financing, hydrogen economy, and the future of the Asean grid. These discussions could make Asean a pivotal factor in achieving a just energy transition.
IGEM 2023 wasn’t just about saving the planet; it was about having a blast while doing it. Attendees left with new ideas, inspiration, and the desire to hug a tree.
As IGEM 2023 wrapped up, the world eagerly awaited the results of this eco-extravaganza. With a commitment to making sustainability side-splittingly fun, IGEM has proven that the race towards net-zero emissions isn’t just necessary—it’s a hoot!
