The ASEAN Business Advisory Council’s (ASEAN-BAC) Green & Sustainable Working Group today announced the appointment of Lauren Blasco, AC Ventures‘ Principal and Head of ESG, into its Carbon Center of Excellence (CCoE). This appointment highlights the Council’s continued dedication to fostering an understanding of carbon markets among business leaders, market participants, and regulators.
ASEAN-BAC and the Carbon Center of Excellence
ASEAN-BAC, launched in 2003, plays a pivotal role in stimulating ASEAN’s economic integration by providing the private sector’s input and guidance. Its initiatives, including the CCoE, are poised to launch a variety of resources and platforms that facilitate the understanding and strategic utilization of carbon markets. This year, with the Republic of Indonesia holding the ASEAN Chairmanship, the focus will be on scaling up voluntary carbon markets and compliance markets across the region.
A Five-Year Commitment Towards Sustainable Carbon Markets
Blasco has pledged a five-year commitment to advise public and private stakeholders across the ASEAN bloc on developing, launching, and growing voluntary carbon markets. She emphasized the crucial role of these markets in combating climate change and building a sustainable future.
