The FinTech industry is rapidly evolving, and as it continues to grow, there is an increasing demand for a highly skilled workforce. In response to this need, Workforce Singapore (WSG) and the Singapore FinTech Association (SFA) have launched the FinTech Talent Programme (FTP), the first attach-and-train Career Conversion Programme (CCP) in the industry.
Building an Industry Pipeline of Talented Individuals
The goal of FTP is to develop a pipeline of talented individuals who have the skills and knowledge to succeed in key technology roles within the FinTech industry. To achieve this goal, the program aims to re-skill mid-career individuals by providing them with structured training and work attachments. This will help them to transition into new careers in the FinTech sector, where they can put their skills to use and make a positive impact.
Nine Months of Structured Training and Work Attachments
The FTP is a nine-month-long program that will be operated under WSG’s attach-and-train CCP. During this time, participants will receive structured training in a variety of areas, including Python programming, software testing, and Scrum and quality assurance. In addition to this training, participants will also receive work attachments that will give them hands-on experience in the industry. These work attachments will help participants to gain a better understanding of the FinTech sector and prepare them for their future careers.
Collaboration with Ngee Ann Polytechnic and Tribe
Ngee Ann Polytechnic will serve as the training partner for the FTP, providing participants with the education and training they need to succeed. Tribe will also help find and manage qualified applicants, making sure that only the most qualified and motivated people are chosen for the program.
Support from Leading FinTech Companies
The FTP has received endorsements from ten of the industry’s most prominent FinTech companies, including NETS and YouTrip, all of whom have stated their intention to include mid-career professionals in their workforce strategies. This assistance will make it more likely that programme participants will find employment in the fast-growing FinTech industry and be able to advance in their chosen fields.
Preparing for the Future of FinTech
The FTP is a huge step forward for Singapore’s financial technology industry. By providing employees in the middle of their careers with the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in pivotal technological roles, the initiative is helping to produce a highly trained and talented workforce ready for the future of FinTech. This collaborative effort by WSG, SFA, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Tribe, and other leading FinTech companies demonstrates Singapore’s dedication to the growth of its FinTech industry.
