In a significant move that underscores the growing importance of the gaming sector in the Asia Pacific region, Ampverse, a prominent player in the gaming community and IP ecosystem, has announced the acquisition of Singapore’s gaming startup, Championify. This strategic acquisition is set to bolster Ampverse’s position in the game-tech solutions arena, catering to a diverse audience including brands, gamers, fans, and game publishers.

  • Ampverse acquires Singapore-based gaming startup, Championify.
  • Championify’s assets, including a proprietary gamification platform, to be integrated into Ampverse Labs.
  • The collaboration aims to introduce innovative game-tech solutions in the Asia Pacific region.
  • Ampverse Labs, led by Sascha Jochum, focuses on bridging the gap between brands and gaming audiences in Southeast Asia and India.
  • The Asia Pacific region dominates the global gaming market with revenues surpassing $84 billion USD in 2022.

The acquisition will see Championify’s cutting-edge technology and intellectual property assets, which encompass a unique gamification platform, a reward mechanism, and a gaming product marketplace, being assimilated into Ampverse Labs. This integration is anticipated to fast-track the development of Ampverse’s proprietary products and services.

Zad Ngor Yan Da, the visionary founder of Championify, expressed his enthusiasm about the merger, stating, “Joining forces with Ampverse will pave the way for groundbreaking products and services that promise to revolutionize the gaming sector.” He further emphasized the shared objective of both entities to foster meaningful connections and offer immersive experiences to brands and communities across Southeast Asia and India.

Highlighting the potential of this collaboration, Sascha Jochum, director of Web3 and Ampverse Labs, remarked, “Championify’s commendable collaborations with reputed brands like Razer and Samsung position us to leverage their tech expertise, propelling our mission to redefine game-tech solutions in the region.”

Ampverse Labs, under Jochum’s leadership, is committed to providing data-driven game-tech solutions that bridge the chasm between brands and their target audience in the burgeoning gaming markets of Southeast Asia and India. The lab is currently in the advanced stages of developing innovative products, including an interactive quest tool and a dynamic gamification solution, aiming to harness first-party data through state-of-the-art technological tools.

The acquisition comes at a time when the Asia Pacific region is witnessing an unprecedented surge in the gaming sector. A recent study by TotallyAwesome’s Youth-first Digital Insights revealed that the region is not only the world’s largest gaming market but also boasts a nearly equal gender distribution among gamers. With 46% of Gen Alpha girls and 54% of boys finding comfort in gaming, it’s evident that the gaming culture is deeply ingrained in the younger generations.
