McDonald’s Indonesia is diversifying its services in a delightful and unexpected way: catering for weddings. A recent Instagram post by the company revealed this intriguing new development. The fast-food titan is now providing couples with the option to infuse their wedding feast with McDonald’s iconic menu items, including delectable chicken nuggets and mouthwatering burgers.
The proposed package for this unique wedding catering service comes with an affordable price tag of 3.5 million Indonesian rupiah, roughly translating to about US$230. The fast-food behemoth elaborated on the catering service, stating that it offers a variety of packages, all requiring a minimum order of 200 burgers or packets of nuggets.

Interestingly, this is not McDonald’s first foray into the wedding industry. Media reports from 2011 highlighted McDonald’s Hong Kong’s pioneering initiative of offering wedding packages. The offer, priced at HK$1,300, featured a fully catered event in one of McDonald’s restaurants, replete with gift bags filled with toys and an inventive wedding cake – a pyramid of boxed apple pies.
This novel wedding catering venture is just another testament to McDonald’s innovative marketing tactics. The company’s creative streak was on full display recently when it resurrected the beloved character, Grimace. This was part of a collaborative effort with Krool Toys on an exclusive video game. Grimace, known for his unique fuzzy purple appearance, playful demeanor, and fondness for shakes, originates from the mythical Grimace Island and is a fan favorite.
There have also been significant changes on the leadership front at McDonald’s. The fast-food giant elevated its Asia CMO, Eugene Lee, to the position of International CMO for the International Developmental Licensed (IDL) segment. In his new capacity, Lee will supervise all international regions outside the US, encompassing Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. He expressed his excitement and humility regarding the enhanced responsibilities on a LinkedIn post, stating, “It’s been a crazy but oh-so-exciting 14-year ride with McDonald’s…I’m extremely excited and humbled by the elevated responsibilities, and looking forward to interacting with our marketing teams from across the globe!”
McDonald’s continues to surprise and innovate, whether through its marketing strategies or service offerings, and this latest venture in Indonesia is just another unique chapter in its evolving story.
