This year, OFFLINE 16 is back, bigger, better, and more impactful than ever! First launched in 2024, the inaugural event was a smashing success, garnering over 300 participants, championing both mental and physical wellness. Spearheaded by the Australian owned supplement brand VitaHealth Malaysia (“VitaHealth”) and community builder and master planner Tropicana Corporation Berhad (“Tropicana” or “Group”), OFFLINE 16 encourages participants to disconnect from digital devices and reconnect with the world around them. Building on this momentum and in alignment with both companies’ ESG commitments, this year’s movement aims to engage over 1,200 participants nationwide.
Unlike last year’s record-breaking 16-hour single event, OFFLINE 16 has evolved into a series of themed gatherings, each one designed to be more accessible, while spotlighting different facets of mindfulness and wellness. The journey began in May 2025 with the Pickleball Challenge in Penang attracting 200 participants. It was followed by a Nature’s Retreat at FRIM, Kepong and a Beach Cleanup in Sabah, together attracting 300 participants just last month. The movement will culminate in its largest edition yet at Tropicana Golf & Country Resort (“TGCR”) on 16 August 2025, with a final rest-and-recharge resort retreat in October.
Speaking at the event, Dr KS Beh, Chief Executive Officer of VitaHealth (Malaysia & Singapore) and founder of OFFLINE 16, shared, “The idea to go offline came to me when I noticed how screen time was taking over people’s lives, leaving them disconnected and mentally drained.” That sparked the birth of OFFLINE 16, a movement inviting people to unplug, and reconnect meaningfully, while building a happier community.
To date, it has clocked 30 offline hours across five editions, engaging more than 900 participants. “At VitaHealth, we live by our slogan ‘Healthy Life, Happy Vibes’. Wellness is not just about taking supplements. It’s also how we care for our minds and connect with others,” Dr Beh added.
Ixora Ang, MD of Sales & Marketing and Business Development of Tropicana, said, “At Tropicana, our mission is to create sustainable, livable townships that truly support the people who call them home. ESG isn’t just about the environment and governance; it is about the people too. OFFLINE 16 shows how this vision goes beyond buildings; it’s about giving everyone a chance to unplug, reconnect, and care for their wellbeing together. We are proud to champion this wellness movement with VitaHealth, together with the support from our community-conscious arm, Tropicana Foundation and our event sponsor, Tropicana Golf & Country Resort. In line with our mantra ‘Redefining the Art of Living, Caring and Sharing’, we remain committed to growing this positive movement, and we warmly welcome more corporate partners to join us.”
Wong Siew Lai, Chief Marketing Officer of Big Caring Group, emphasised, “At BIG CARING Group, we believe in a holistic approach to health, one that looks beyond medication to address mental, emotional, and social well-being.”
Mental health is an urgent reality in Malaysia. Nearly 1 million adults (4.6%) are living with depression, almost double since 2019, while 1 in 6 children face mental health challenges (NHMS, 2023). Digital dependency adds fuel to the fire, with heavy screen use linked to anxiety, depression, and social isolation. According to the WHO World Mental Health Surveys, up to 78%
of people in upper-middle-income countries don’t receive the mental health care they need. OFFLINE 16 helps bridge this gap by making preventive mental wellness simple, practical, and accessible through real-world experiences that encourage people to unplug, reconnect, and build healthy habits.
NEXT STOP: THE BIG FINALE AT TROPICANA
Join us at the flagship event at TGCR! Following the success of OFFLINE 16: Nature’s Retreat and the enthusiastic turnout in Penang, anticipation is mounting for the next phase of the OFFLINE 16 series. The upcoming grand finale on 16 August 2025 at Tropicana Golf & Country Resort (“TGCR”) promises to be the most immersive experience yet, featuring a range of engaging
activities—from a pickleball session with VitaHealth ambassadors, Olympian Pearly Tan and Malaysia’s top pickleball player Colin Wong, to interactive games, a dedicated rest-and relaxation corner, and a scenic sunset walk to end the day on a serene note.
The grand finale will bring together a vibrant line-up of wellness-focused activities aimed at helping participants unplug, recharge, and reconnect. The event will feature open-play pickleball challenges at the brand new pickleball courts at TGCR, a sunset walk, live jazz music, a recycling workshop, health screenings, DIY arts and crafts, mental wellness games, and a relaxation zone complete with reading nooks and massage chairs. Participants will also receive exclusive goodies worth over RM300, and stand a chance to win RM15,000 worth of lucky draw prizes.
This meaningful event will be brought to life with the support of retail partners BIG Pharmacy and Caring Pharmacy, along with official pickleball equipment partner Facolos. Other key partners include the Malaysian Mental Health Association (“MMHA”), National Cancer Society Malaysia (“NCSM”), Anytime Fitness, Protech, Precious Plastic Malaysia, Skechers, Herbs of Gold, T Privilege, Tropicana Golf & Country Resort, Tropicana Foundation, OGAWA, BookXcess, Dr. Stretch, D Swim Academy, Libresse, and many more.
With over 500 participants already engaged across the first two events, VitaHealth and Tropicana are well on track to achieve their target of 1,200 participants, creating space for more Malaysians to unplug and experience the art of being present.
