In a strategic move, McCann Worldgroup has announced the appointment of industry stalwart, Stephanie Nerlich, as the Global President of the McCann agency. But that’s not all. Nerlich’s new position will also see her donning a second hat, focusing on expanding McCann’s capabilities in the international arena.
A significant part of her responsibility will include collaborating closely with McCann’s regional presidents to drive business growth. The aim? To introduce new, innovative capabilities to the global markets. But her influence doesn’t stop there. Nerlich will also lend her executive expertise to McCann’s Verizon business in the US.
Positioned in this unique role, she will operate under the guidance of Daryl Lee, McCann Worldgroup’s Global CEO. This move signals McCann’s ambition, making Nerlich’s role integral to the brand’s future trajectory.

This shift isn’t just about Nerlich. It’s indicative of McCann Worldgroup’s broader vision. The organization is pivoting its leadership, under the keen eyes of Lee, to create a novel structure. Now, top executives will serve dual roles – bridging the agency and client divide. This innovative approach hopes to bring about deeper collaboration and ensure McCann’s premier clients have seamless access to resources.
Nerlich is no stranger to leadership roles. Before stepping into this position at McCann Worldgroup, she showcased her leadership prowess at Havas Creative Network. As the CEO for North America and the Global Chief Client Officer since January 2020, Nerlich propelled the creative network to impressive heights. Her tenure witnessed robust growth and an unparalleled track record in acquiring new business ventures.
Expressing her enthusiasm for this new journey, Nerlich shared on LinkedIn, “I am thrilled to begin this new chapter at McCann. It’s a privilege to work shoulder-to-shoulder with the exceptional leadership at McCann Worldgroup and, of course, Daryl Lee.”
Her previous roles speak volumes of her capabilities. Nerlich also had a significant stint at MDC Partners. As the Executive Vice President from 2017 to 2019, she played a pivotal role. She even stepped up as the agency’s Interim Co-CEO between September 2018 and April 2019.
This announcement aligns with McCann Worldgroup’s global growth ambitions. Recent shifts saw McCann bolstering its Southeast Asia leadership team. Significant moves include promoting Charlie Lowe to the newly-minted role of Chief Strategy Officer and appointing Aishah Haroon as the Director of Client Services and Operations for MRM in both Singapore and Hong Kong. Both report to Nick Handel, the President of McCann Worldgroup SEA.
Lowe, previously handling the regional strategy for Cigna, will now oversee strategic teams across Singapore, Thailand, and Hong Kong. His role also includes a keen focus on acquiring new business and spearheading thought-leadership initiatives. Additionally, Lowe is an esteemed member of McCann Worldgroup Asia Pacific’s Strategy Leadership Community (SLC) and has been an influential voice in industry events such as judging at the APAC Effies.
In this dynamic era for McCann Worldgroup, the appointment of Stephanie Nerlich and the reshaping of its leadership structure symbolize a commitment to evolution, collaboration, and global growth.
