ShopBack Taps Comic Veteran Kumar As Newest Brand Ambassador In Singapore

ShopBack, the leading rewards and discovery platform in Asia-Pacific, has appointed comedy veteran Kumar as its brand ambassador in Singapore. The partnership between ShopBack and Kumar will run for a year, beginning with ShopBack 11.11: The Internet’s Biggest Sale, whereby Kumar will play the leading character in their catchy ‘ShopBack, Get Paid to Shop!’ music video. After 11.11, Kumar will continue to front a range of campaigns and marketing initiatives to promote the ShopBack brand and engage with shoppers through the year-end sales season and beyond.

In the music video, Kumar switches between various cross-dressing get-ups, from a schoolgirl outfit to an elderly grandmother, and takes centre stage dancing and rapping to the ‘ShopBack, Get Paid to Shop’ song. In the opening of the music video, Kumar boasts that “everyone loves a good lobang but no one knows about lobang better than me” before reminding viewers to use the ShopBack app to Get Paid to Shop. The lyrics of the song encourage consumers to shop smart by getting the best deals and earning cashback on their purchases – from food deliveries, laptops, clothes, staycations, back lotion, and more.

“It is an immense pleasure for us to have Kumar on board. He is a well-loved personality and household name in Singapore, and we are proud to have him represent the ShopBack brand and amplify the message of Smarter shopping and saving money to Singaporeans,” said Imran Mohamad, Head of Marketing, ShopBack Singapore. “We chose Kumar because he will inject exuberance and comedy into our marketing assets, and also because of his down-to-earth and relatable personality which is in line with ShopBack’s brand personality. We hope that Singaporeans watching him in our 11.11 music video will feel as though a trusted friend or family member is reminding them that a dollar saved is a dollar earned, and that they can maximise every cent with ShopBack.”

“Whether you are buying bubble tea, a walking stick, or groceries, you can earn cashback on all your purchases with ShopBack. If any Singaporean is still not getting paid to shop by ShopBack… I don’t know what else to say to them already lah,” said Kumar. “I’m excited for what the future of our partnership will bring – between Singapore’s favourite comedian and Singapore’s favourite rewards platform, anything is possible!”

Highlights of ShopBack 11.11: The Internet’s Biggest Sale:

Following the success of ShopBack’s recent 9.9 and 10.10 sales, ShopBack 11.11: The Internet’s Biggest Sale will feature a bigger and better line up of non-stop promotions, including all-day upsized cashback promotions, upsized vouchers, 11.11-themed ShopBack Challenges, and more. ShopBack users also stand a chance to win over $11,000 worth of giveaways.

In the last hour leading up to 11.11, ShopBack will run a Vouchers Bonanza at 11pm on 10 November, offering up vouchers from brands including Amazon, Grab, Fairprice, Qoo10, Zalora, and more, at up to 50% off. ShopBack users can also expect attractive upsized cashback promotions on 11 November:

  • To kick off 11.11, Booking.com and Dyson will run a 13% and 16% upsized cashback promotion respectively for two hours starting 12 midnight on 11 November,
  • On 11.11, users can enjoy up to 60% upsized cashback from over 600 brands 
  • On 11.11, users can expect cashback promotions from their favourite brands including Apple at 5% upsized cashback; Guardian at 7% upsized cashback; LEGO at 9% upsized cashback; Nespresso at 8% upsized cashback; Pampers (on Lazada) at 13% upsized cashback; 3M at 13% upsized cashback; and much more!

ShopBack will also be running a Magical Livestream on its Facebook page at 9pm on 10 November whereby viewers will stand a chance to win attractive prizes such as a staycation, Lenovo tablet, and mystery brand boxes. Further, ShopBack users can participate in 11.11-themed ShopBack Challenges in-app and win up to $25,000 bonus cashback. Challenges include being the first 111 users to spend on 11.11; making a purchase from selected brands for the first time; and more.
