Taylor’s University is honoured to welcome Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, José Ramos-Horta, as an Honorary Adjunct Professor for its Bachelor in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) (Honours) programme.
President Ramos-Horta, an advocate for peace, democracy, and human rights, brings a wealth of experience in political leadership, diplomacy, and global affairs. His involvement in the PPE programme marks a significant milestone in Taylor’s effort to embed real-world leadership and global insight into its academic framework.

As an Honorary Adjunct Professor, President Ramos-Horta will engage with the students through guests lectures on contemporary regional and global issues, drawing from his extensive experience as the President of Timor-Leste. His contributions will focus on leadership, governance, and economic development, enriching students enrolled in the PPE programme with real-world perspectives. Beyond the classroom, President Ramos-Horta will play a key role in strengthening academic, research, and professional collaborations through his extensive regional and international networks.
Upon accepting the appointment, President Ramos-Horta remarked, “Education is one of the most powerful instruments we have to shape a more just, compassionate, and peaceful world. I am honoured to join Taylor’s University as an Honorary Adjunct Professor, and I welcome the opportunity to share my experiences with the students of the PPE programme. In this critical moment for humanity, nurturing critical thinking, ethical leadership, and a global outlook is not only necessary—it is urgent. Together, we can empower a new generation to lead with wisdom, courage, and a deep sense of responsibility to others.”
In conjunction with this historic appointment, Taylor’s University is proud to introduce the President J. Ramos-Horta scholarship to support a deserving Timorese student who demonstrates academic merit and a commitment to global impact.
Taylor’s University is also offering over RM30 million in scholarships and awards for the September 2025 intake, reinforcing its broader commitment to accessible, high-quality education.
