Trainers memang perlu networking. Kerana itu trainers perlu aktif berjumpa orang – baik dalam lapangan kepakaran yang sama, mahupun dalam lapangan yang berbeza dan pelbagai. Ini termasuk menyertai mana-mana acara bersemuka mahupun dalam talian. Baik sebagai ahli persatuan, mahupun sekadar menjadi pelawat atau audien.

Cuma, yang jarang kita diingatkan ialah:

  1. Networking bukan sekadar mengumpul “business card“. Ada banyak kad tidak bererti kita akan berjaya. Ramai orang hanya akan simpan sahaja kad-kad yang diterima dalam sesi-sesi networking tanpa melalukan sebarang follow-up.
  2. Networking hanya berhasil jika kita berjaya wujudkan kepercayaan orang itu terhadap diri kita. Ini jarang berlaku dengan kita hanya bercakap tentang kehebatan diri kita sahaja. Kepercayaan terhasil dengan merasa sendiri benefits daripada produk atau servis yang kita tawarkan.
  3. Saling mempercayai (mutual trust) hanya wujud jika kita kerap bertemu, nampak usaha yang konsisten dan ada hasil yang positif. Kata kunci di sini ialah “kerap”. Jika hanya jumpa sekali sahaja, bagaimana mahu bina hubungan dua hala?
  4. Hasil dari networking hanya akan nampak selepas tiga (3) bulan atau lebih, bergantung kepada jenis model bisnes kita. Ramai yang beranggapan bahawa ROI (pulangan) aktiviti networking akan datang hanya apabila dapat “menjual” pada sesi atau acara tersebut. Mereka terlalu gopoh untuk menuai berbanding sabar untuk menyemai. 
  5. Networking memang perlu modal dan pelaburan masa – ini namanya komitmen. Tiada kejayaan yang datang dengan percuma dan tanpa usaha. Jika benar-benar mahu networking, buat betul-betul insyaAllah berhasil.
