McDonald’s® Singapore Embraces Unity in Diversity with aHeartwarming Lo Hei Celebration for Families-in-Needthis Chinese New Year

This Chinese New Year, McDonald’s Singapore ushered in the Year of the Snake with a meaningful celebration, bringing joy to families from multi-cultural backgrounds supported by the Ministry of Social and Family Development’s (MSF) ComLink+ initiative and Families for Life (FFL). The event, graced by Guest of Honour, Mr Eric Chua, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Social and Family Development and Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, showcased the spirit of unity in Singapore’s multi-racial society while spreading festive cheer.

Held earlier this evening (24 January), ComLink+ parents and children from different cultural backgrounds enjoyed McDonald’s Signature Prosperity Meals alongside a Prosperity Quiz, which offered guests an engaging way to learn about the rich traditions and cultural significance of the Chinese New Year. Attendees who answered quiz questions correctly received exclusive, limited edition McDonald’s & Sanrio characters red packets, adding a fun touch to the festivities.

The event was highlighted by a festive tossing of the Lohei Treasure Box, a McDonald’s twist to the signature Lo Hei, bringing blessings and good fortune for the year ahead. To make the celebration even more special, beloved Sanrio characters Cinnamoroll and My Melody made a surprise appearance, joining in the festivities and ensuring every guest felt the joy and excitement of the occasion.

“Reunion dinners are a cornerstone of Chinese New Year traditions, symbolising love, connection and the strengthening of family bonds. We are honoured to partner with MSF’s ComLink+ and Families for Life (FFL) to host this meaningful event, spreading joy and fostering unity,” said Benjamin Boh, Managing Director of McDonald’s Singapore. This Chinese New Year community initiative underscores McDonald’s dedication to inclusivity and making a meaningful difference in the lives of families and communities across Singapore.
