On Wednesday evening, amid drumbeats and fireworks, President Joko Widodo inaugurated the Jakarta Fair 2023 at JiExpo Kemayoran, marking the commencement of Southeast Asia’s longest and largest exhibition.
“With the name of Allah, I officially open the Jakarta Fair Kemayoran 2023,” proclaimed President Widodo, standing on the main stage around 7:10 p.m. local time. The Acting Governor of Jakarta, Heru Budi Hartono, accompanied him.
Guests and ambassadors of friendly nations warmly welcomed President Widodo, who was dressed in elegant black and brown batik. The President noted that the Jakarta Fair Kemayoran, which also commemorates Jakarta’s anniversary falling on June 22, is an event eagerly anticipated by Jakarta’s residents every year. This year’s fair marks the 54th time the event has been held.

Reflecting on the event’s past successes, he noted that the previous year’s fair attracted 6.9 million visitors and facilitated transactions worth Rp7.3 trillion (US$490.4 million). “A colossal figure,” he added, before extending warm wishes for the 496th anniversary of the city of Jakarta.
Scheduled from June 14 to July 16, 2023, the Jakarta Fair Kemayoran will take place at the Jakarta International Expo (JiExpo) Kemayoran in Central Jakarta. Ralph Scheunemann, JiExpo Kemayoran’s marketing director, revealed that this year’s fair has attracted 2,500 companies, which will showcase their flagship products across 1,500 booths, offering enticing discounts. Interestingly, the composition of participants comprises 60 percent private firms and 40 percent micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
PT JiExpo’s General Manager, Oki Setiawan, announced that the entrance ticket prices for this year’s fair remain the same as last year, with the lowest-priced tickets at Rp50 thousand. This year, the tickets come in two categories: one providing access only to the exhibition, and the other bundled with a music concert ticket.
