IKEA Malaysia Unveils Blueprint 2025 Prioritizing Affordability and Sustainability

Batu Kawan, 12 September 2024 – IKEA Malaysia has officially unveiled its highly anticipated Blueprint 2025 at IKEA Batu Kawan, marking a significant step in its mission to make home furnishing more accessible and sustainable. Amid economic challenges, IKEA has reaffirmed its commitment to affordability, omnichannel growth, and sustainability, ensuring Malaysians continue to enjoy quality home solutions at competitive prices.

Prioritizing Affordability

A core theme of IKEA’s 2025 strategy is affordability. With the current retail environment showing signs of softening, IKEA is doubling down on its efforts to provide well-designed, sustainable home furnishings for all. Malcolm Pruys, Country Retail Director of IKEA Malaysia, emphasized this by stating:

“At IKEA, our vision has always been to create a better everyday life for the many people. Amid rising costs, our purpose to cater for people’s dreams, needs and frustrations is stronger than ever. Whether it’s thinner wallets, smaller living spaces, or the desire for better sleep. In 2025, we remain committed to helping our customers create a better life at home, and making it more affordable than they imagine.”

IKEA is introducing New Lower Prices for over 2,000 popular products, following an earlier price reduction on 300 items. This pricing strategy is not a temporary discount but a long-term commitment, ensuring more people can afford IKEA’s high-quality solutions.

Building a Sustainable Future

IKEA Malaysia is equally committed to sustainability, taking concrete steps towards reducing its environmental impact. By the end of 2024, IKEA will add nine electric vehicles (EVs) to its delivery fleet, bringing the total to 12. These EVs will be used for last-mile deliveries, supporting IKEA’s omnichannel growth as online shopping continues to rise. Pruys shared:

“With e-commerce comprising 16.5% of total revenue in FY24, expanding our EV fleet is key to our omnichannel growth strategy. A total of 8,567 deliveries were made through EV last year, and we are excited to see this number grow as we transition to more sustainable transport solutions.”

Elevating Home Life with New Offerings

As part of IKEA’s commitment to improving everyday life at home, sleep has been identified as a key focus area for 2025. According to the IKEA Life at Home report, one-third of Malaysians find sleep essential for mental wellbeing, with many struggling with insomnia. To address this, IKEA is launching a month-long Snooze Fest in September, featuring a range of affordable sleep essentials aimed at helping Malaysians achieve restful nights.

Additionally, customers can look forward to several new collections in 2025, including the BRÄNNBOLL collection for casual gamers, the forest-inspired SKOGSDUVA for children, and the functional GRAFJÄLLET collection. Seasonal collections like FÖSSTA, VINTERFINT, and GOKVÄLLÅ will also make a return, catering to various customer needs.
