HCL Technologies, a top IT company, has said that it wants to double its business in semiconductor services in the next three to four years. This action is a response to the need for skills that will be created when the company’s parent company builds chip plants. In line with the “Scheme for Compound Semiconductors,” HCL Group has sent in a request to build a factory for making electronic chips. HCL Technologies will assist HCL Corporate throughout the entire chip production process.
Ameer Saithu, Executive Vice President and BU Head at HCL Technologies, says that the company focuses on the semiconductor chip industry, especially in engineering services. He went on to say that, because demand is still high, their goal is to double their business in this area over the next three to four years. Construction on the semiconductor wafer fab for HCL Group can start in about 18 to 24 months after the government approves the company’s application. Saithu said that HCL Tech wants to build up its skills in that area because they see it as a big chance, and that they have the money to do so. HCL Technologies works with Applied Materials, Intel, NXP, and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), among others, to make electronic chips. Saithu continued by saying that their ability to produce semiconductors will enable them to offer complete electronic manufacturing solutions.
