In a pivotal move to strengthen inclusivity in Singapore’s technology sector, Accenture unveiled its groundbreaking “Women of Worth” (WoW) program under the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA)’s Relaunch initiative. This holistic program is dedicated to empowering women from the tech industry to re-enter the workforce while supporting Singapore’s Smart Nation 2.0 vision.
The program debuted at the “Empowering Women, Powering AI: Leading the Future of Work Together” event, co-hosted by Accenture Singapore and the Singapore Business Federation (SBF). The event was graced by Minister Josephine Teo, Singapore’s Minister for Digital Development and Information, and Patron of SG Women in Tech, alongside Julie Sweet, Accenture’s Chair and CEO.
A Vision for Inclusivity and Digital Transformation
Minister Josephine Teo underscored the significance of this initiative, stating: “Singapore’s Smart Nation 2.0 vision is about creating a thriving digital future where everyone, including women, has the opportunity to contribute meaningfully. Women returning to the workforce bring fresh perspectives and valuable skills, representing a significant pool of talent that should not be overlooked. Programs like Women of Worth align with national efforts to create pathways for women and support Singapore’s goal of becoming a global leader in fostering a supportive and innovative ecosystem for women in tech.”
The launch marks a significant step in Accenture’s commitment to diversity, with the company pledging to fund the upskilling of 10,000 women professionals. This initiative coincides with the celebration of Accenture’s 50th anniversary in Singapore.
Cutting-Edge Training for the Future of Work
The WoW program, delivered through Accenture LearnVantage, offers a comprehensive range of tailored learning modules. These include next-generation technologies such as Generative AI, along with professional skills like Design Thinking, Digital Project Management, Agile Delivery, Software Development, and Programming.
Ng Wee Wei, Senior Managing Director and Southeast Asia Market Unit Lead at Accenture, highlighted the initiative’s core objective: “The demand for tech skills and the type of tech skills have both undergone a dramatic change over the last five years. For women returning to the workforce today, working through the complexity and the pace of change can be an uphill battle. Our aim with WoW is not just to equip returning women with the latest tech skills, but also relevant professional skills that enable them to navigate and thrive in today’s competitive world with confidence.”
