Kotex recently launched the all new limited edition range aimed at the celebration of women’s progress for the past 100 years. The limited edition range features Datuk Nicol David and Yuna’s illustrations on the cover to recognise these legendary Malaysian icons for the waves they have made in their respective industries. By collaborating with our Malaysian heroes, Datuk Nicol David and Yuna, Kotex further strengthens the brand’s show of commitment to women’s progress with the #SHECAN Fund.
The #SHECAN Fund was set up by Kotex with an aim to inspire women and provide them with a platform to turn their ambitions into reality, not just to enrich their own lives but those around them too. With this collaboration, Kotex will be looking into setting up a special subset of the fund which will then be donated through the #SHECAN Fund for talented and deserving women who are looking to progress flourishingly in the sports and music field respectively.
“Up to this day, I have come across many stereotypes about women and among them are that we can’t excel in certain fields because of our gender and I stand behind changing the tune of this song. Kotex is very committed to women’s progress with the #SHECAN Fund with the clear goal of inspiring and motivating women to help them achieve their passion because we are confident that women are built for incredible things”, said Frenissa Lagman, Marketing Manager for Kimberly-Clark. Lagman added, “Datuk Nicol David and Yuna are the true embodiment of what the #SHECAN fund stands for and it is an honour to have them be part of this initiative. These two amazing icons are proof that women can overcome challenges in any situation because period or not, #SHECAN.
The #SHECAN Fund offers the opportunity and platform that aims to help kickstart and elevate young aspiring females in the sports and music fields. Two lucky talents will be equipped with the right connections to start their careers on the right foot. Participants are encouraged to showcase their talents to stand a chance to be part of the #SHECAN Fund by posting a video of them training in their sport of choice or singing any of their original songs on their personal social media platforms with a caption that encapsulates why they should be chosen.
“Growing up, I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do but I have always had passion for singing ever since I was a kid. I was so thankful to be given the opportunity to pursue my dreams of becoming a singer. The journey came with its own set of adversities but I persevered and stayed strong to overcome the obstacles that got in my way. With the Kotex #SHECAN Fund collaboration, I want to be able to provide the same opportunity to help the younger generation continuously progress in the music field,” said internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter, Yuna.
“I moved abroad at a young age to chase my dreams of becoming a squash player. It was tough for me to be away from my family at that age but that was a sacrifice I had to make to chase my ultimate dream and I was blessed to have very supportive parents. Now, I want to be able to provide a platform for the younger generation to help kickstart their sports journey,” said eight-time squash World Champion, Datuk Nicol David.
