Singapore, 04 December 2023 – Atlas Copco, a leader in sustainable industrial solutions, has announced the launch of its ambitious ‘Go Green Singapore’ campaign. This initiative, centered at their Singapore Customer Center in Tuas Avenue, marks a significant step towards sustainability, showcasing a series of collaborations with renowned sustainable technology providers.
Innovative Green Projects Unveiled
The campaign’s first phase includes the installation of a rooftop solar system in partnership with NEFIN, transitioning the company’s vehicle fleet to electric vans, and a pioneering rainwater harvesting project. These initiatives are part of Atlas Copco’s commitment to reducing Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions by 46%, and 28% from Scope 3, from 2019 to 2030.
A Collaborative Effort for a Sustainable Future
Horst Wasel, Vice President of Atlas Copco Holding Southeast Asia and Oceania, shared his insights: “For many years, we have been focusing on manufacturing energy efficiency products. We’ve also designed a virtual showroom showcasing our finest sustainable innovations to help our clients kickstart their journey to sustainability. In unison with the UN’s 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and Paris Agreement, Singapore’s commitment to achieving the global goal is emphasised in its Green Plan. Hence, the decision to promote sustainable practices with trusted sustainable energy providers, like NEFIN, comes rather intuitively.”
Offsetting Carbon Emissions with NEFIN
The collaboration with NEFIN is set to offset 3,783 tonnes of carbon emissions through the adoption of carbon-neutral solutions. Glenn Lim, CEO of NEFIN, presented a milestone certificate to Khalid Shaikh, GM from Atlas Copco, marking this significant achievement.
Embracing Rainwater Harvesting and Electric Vehicles
In response to Singapore’s limited water supply and the expected doubling of water demand by 2065, Atlas Copco has partnered with Hydro Dynamic Engineering to implement a rainwater harvesting project. Patrick Tan, Managing Director of Hydro Dynamic Engineering, commented on the collaboration, emphasizing the importance of water conservation and environmental responsibility.
Additionally, Atlas Copco is transitioning to electric vehicles (EVs), with plans to convert 90% of their fleet by the third quarter of 2024. To support this shift, they have installed AC chargers by eChargz within their premises. Benjamin Chua, General Manager of eChargz, expressed pride in being selected to tailor the EV charging infrastructure for Atlas Copco.
A Commitment to Net Zero Carbon Emissions
Atlas Copco’s ‘Go Green Singapore’ campaign is a testament to their dedication to sustainable practices and their role in supporting Singapore’s long-term goal of net-zero carbon emissions. This initiative not only reflects Atlas Copco’s commitment to environmental stewardship but also sets a benchmark for sustainable industrial practices in Singapore and beyond.
