Companies listed on the Singapore Exchange have made strides. They have enhanced their corporate governance practices. Transparency has also improved. The Singapore’s Governance and Transparency Index (SGTI) unveiled this. The list of most well-governed and transparent brands in Singapore was created by CPA Australia, NUS Business School, and the Singapore Institute of Directors.
These companies were evaluated on several aspects. Board responsibilities, shareholders’ rights, stakeholder engagement, accountability, audit, disclosure, and transparency were all assessed.

The findings were impressive. This year, companies achieved the best performance rate. The index score climbed to 74.8 out of 143 points. This is a 15-year high. The score also beat the 70.6 from the year before. It’s the largest increase since 2020.
In the index, Singtel claimed the top spot. They moved up from third place last year. Singtel’s score was 120 points. They improved their corporate governance and sustainability disclosures. A total of 474 SGX-listed companies were ranked in the annual index.
Yuen Kuan Moon, Singtel Group’s CEO, expressed gratitude. He emphasized the importance of strong ESG practices for growth. He also mentioned Singtel’s renewed focus on sustainability since 2021. The company aims to do even better for stakeholders.
DBS Grup, SATS, and United Overseas Bank followed. They all scored high base scores of 90, 92, and 86 respectively.
Singtel also celebrated Singapore’s growth this month. They released a short film for Singapore’s 58th birthday and Lee Kuan Yew’s 100th birth anniversary. Titled ‘From Mudflats to Smart Nation,’ the film showcases Singapore’s evolution. It includes rarely seen footage and photos. Singtel Group’s leaders share their perspectives on Singapore’s growth.
The results of this index reflect a positive trend. They highlight a commitment to excellence in governance and transparency. These improvements foster a robust and ethical business environment.
