In a bold move set to redefine the future of plant-based beverages in Asia, Pure Mylk has launched The Mylky Way, Malaysia’s first end-to-end innovation hub dedicated to sustainable beverage formulation, testing, and scalable production. This first-of-its-kind ecosystem goes beyond traditional manufacturing to offer a collaborative platform where food science, creativity, and ESG thinking intersect.
As local demand for clean-label nutrition, functional ingredients, and climate-conscious products accelerates, The Mylky Way bridges a critical innovation gap in the regional market. Instead of entering as a competitor, Pure Mylk positions itself as an enabler in supporting visionary F&B brands, wellness entrepreneurs, and regional conglomerates as they work to transform bold ideas into commercial reality. With engagement open to start-ups, SMES, and industry collaborators alike, the facility offers flexible collaboration pathways for formulation, prototyping, scale-up, and launch, without the burden of heavy infrastructure investment.
“The Mylky Way was never about competition—it’s about collaboration,” shares Marcus Khoo, Founder and CEO of Pure Mylk. “We built this space to lift others, to give bold ideas a real shot at becoming market-ready realities. Whether you’re a startup with a vision or a legacy brand exploring plant-based, our goal is to support your journey with confidence, consistency, and care. This isn’t just about plant-based alternatives—it’s about reshaping what food can be in Asia: more sustainable, more inclusive, and more future-forward.”
The Mylky Way is the first known facility in Southeast Asia to be built for plant-based innovation, integrating both enzymatic processing and aseptic VTIS technology under one roof. Enzymatic processing, a natural hydrolysis method, enhances protein stability, smoothens textures, unlocking flavours and nutrients present in the raw ingredients, minimising the need for added sugars, stabilisers, or artificial additives. Meanwhile, the facility’s aseptic VTIS direct heating system rapidly injects steam into liquid products for ultra-fast sterilisation, followed by flash cooling. This preserves flavour, colour, and nutrients while achieving microbial safety and shelf-stable performance, removing the need for cold-chain logistics. Combined, these innovations enable premium-quality, shelf-stable plant-based beverages that are delicious, functional, and commercially viable.
Housed across two purpose-built buildings, The Mylky Way facility includes R&D and microbiological laboratories for quality assurance, a pilot plant for small-batch testing and distributor sampling, and a dedicated sampling showroom and incubation area for SME engagement and market feedback. A training centre has also been established to upskill the next generation of food technologists and talent, contributing to Southeast Asia’s wider innovation system.
Pure Mylk has also entered strategic collaborations to further power its capabilities. Through a partnership with Tetra Pak, a global leader in food processing and packaging solutions, Pure Mylk is now equipped to support top-tier production and smarter packaging. Its collaboration with Novonesis, a leading BioSolutions innovator, further deepens the company’s commitment to functional ingredient development and future-proof formulations. These partnerships bring global food innovation expertise to the region, empowering local brands to scale faster, build resilient supply chains, and tap into world-class research & development facilities (R&D) without leaving their home turf.
At the same time, in line with its ESG mission, Pure Mylk is committed to reducing emissions through ambient-stable production and less reliance on cold-chain logistics. Its formulations focus on clean-label outcomes and spotlight biodiversity-friendly ingredients like oats, rice, and coconut. This aligns with national and global goals around food security, climate action, and public health, while helping brand owners build credible, sustainability-rooted narratives from sourcing to shelf.
“From enzymatic breakthroughs to responsible sourcing, everything we do is rooted in science and sustainability,” added Wong Chia Yen, Head of Research & Development, Pure Mylk. “The Mylky Way gives local innovators the same tools global players use, making better-for-you, better-for-the-planet products truly accessible to everyone.”
Looking ahead, Pure Mylk is working on the next generation of plant-based offerings, including ambient yoghurt drinks and functional SKUs. The company is also collaborating on school nutrition programmes and regional food security initiatives, with ambitions to influence ASEAN food policy and innovation dialogues in the near future. As of Q3 of 2025, The Mylky Way will be opening its doors for private tours and discovery sessions.
