Zalora Reports Climate Action And Circular Fashion Milestones For Earth Day

Sustainability targets to build a lower impact fashion ecosystem in the region

Singapore – ZALORA, Asia’s leading fashion and lifestyle e-commerce platform, and part of Global Fashion Group (GFG), is proud to reaffirm its commitment to sustainability through its People and Planet Positive (PPP) agenda. ZALORA is excited to share its sustainability achievements in addressing climate action challenges and fostering a circular fashion ecosystem for 2024, as reported in GFG’s People and Planet Positive Report, in honor of this year’s Earth Day.

Driving Positive Climate Action Changes

ZALORA has taken significant strides to mitigate climate impacts and adapt to a lower-carbon economy. To lower emissions logistics, the fashion e-commerce platform focused on the strategic outlook of its third-party logistics last-mile partners to support its group-wide 2030 goal of working with providers that use more than 50% zero or low-emission methods, by using hybrid vehicles, electric motorbikes, bicycle, and walking deliveries in key markets like Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia.

To support the commercial viability and availability of low emission solutions across Southeast Asian markets, ZALORA also collaborates with government and regulatory agencies. In December, ZALORA collaborated with Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and 3PLs, Blueshark and RydeEv, to test the adoption of electric motorcycles in Malaysia for nationwide implementation.

More Sustainable Packaging

As part of our dedication to building a circular fashion ecosystem, ZALORA has actively supported initiatives that promote sustainable consumption. This includes the implementation of sustainable packaging in the form of locally sourced 100% RCS certified recycled polyethylene flyers, 100% recycled content luxury boxes, 100% responsibly sourced paper fillers, and will start trials with paper packaging in the near future. Additionally, the use of automation in our fulfillment warehouses has allowed for custom packing solutions to remove handles from delivery satchels of all sizes, further reducing packaging material.

Notably, in recognition of ZALORA’s accomplishments and leadership in implementing sustainable packaging, it was invited to collaborate with the Singapore Alliance for Action (AfA) on Packaging Waste Reduction for the e-commerce sector to guide sustainable packaging solutions. The AfA was co-led by the Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF) and Singapore Post (SingPost) and supported by the National Environment Agency (NEA).

Responsible Waste Management

To support our aim of building a circular fashion movement, responsible waste management is a key focus of ZALORA. Working alongside zero waste textile collectors and charitable organisations, including The Salvation Army, Life Line Clothing, and Tukar Tambah Celana, ZALORA aims to give donated apparels a second chance to be loved and worn or upcycled into new items, and has diverted over 34,630kgs of garments from landfills to support local communities in need. By taking these steps, we aim to align with global sustainability efforts and contribute to a more circular economy.

Looking Ahead

Sustainability is not just a goal for ZALORA — it’s embedded in everything we do. As we celebrate these milestones, we remain steadfast in our mission to create meaningful change for people and the planet. In 2025, ZALORA will continue to innovate and scale sustainable practices across our operations while fostering collaborations that drive impactful solutions for the environment.

Leveraging our Southeast Asian presence, ZALORA empowers our employees to choose local causes that they believe in, prioritizing environmental protection and social welfare through volunteering and philanthropy. In 2024, ZALORA achieved close to 1,300 volunteering hours from recycling plastics in rural communities, replanting forests, rescuing food waste, volunteering in soup kitchens, caring for our furry friends, and many more.

ZALORA has and will continue to work closely with our community outreach partners across the region, including Action for Singapore Dogs, Brigadang Ayala, Can Gio Protection Forest Management Board, Food From The Heart, PAIS Foundation, PAWS (Animal welfare society), Pawssion Project, Red Cross Indonesia (PMI), Scholar Of Sustenance (SOS PH), Singapore Red Cross, The Assembly Soup Kitchen (T.A.S.K), and more. ZALORA is dedicated to giving back to our communities and planet, one step at a time.
