UNIQLO and Magnum Photos Bring Global Photo Exhibition ‘PEACE FOR ALL’ to Singapore’s VivoCity

In a remarkable celebration of peace, global apparel retailer UNIQLO has teamed up with world-renowned photographic cooperative Magnum Photos to bring the ‘PEACE FOR ALL’ exhibition to Singapore. Kicking off on 20 September 2024 at VivoCity, this exhibition promises a visual journey through the lives of people in Vietnam, Ethiopia, and Romania, as captured by three extraordinary Magnum photographers—Cristina de Middel, Lindokuhle Sobekwa, and Olivia Arthur.

Following its successful debut in London, this exhibition, co-presented by Mapletree Investments, will run until 4 October, offering the public free access to thought-provoking images. The project is part of UNIQLO’s broader PEACE FOR ALL initiative, which raises funds for humanitarian causes globally.

A Global Celebration of Peace

The PEACE FOR ALL exhibition will travel to over 10 major cities worldwide, including New York, Tokyo, Hanoi, and Paris. In Singapore, visitors can also engage with the exhibition by contributing to a symbolic Wishing Tree, where they can pen their hopes for a better future. The timing aligns perfectly with the International Day of Peace, amplifying the exhibition’s message of unity and hope.

A Unique Glimpse Into Humanity

The exhibition presents 30 exceptional images, offering an intimate look into humanitarian projects that have benefited from the PEACE FOR ALL campaign. From Vietnam to Ethiopia, these snapshots celebrate the resilience and strength of people in challenging circumstances.

Cristina de Middel captures Vietnam’s efforts in combating child marriage and promoting girls’ education. Reflecting on her experience, she noted, “It’s the same power that turns a folded piece of paper into a boat or a pencil into a rocket.”

Olivia Arthur, who photographed displaced Ukrainian children in Romania, emphasized the power of imagination in children. “There was a lot of giggling and some inventive creatures and poses,” she said.

Meanwhile, Lindokuhle Sobekwa focused on Ethiopian refugees. His work is a testament to their enduring hope for a better future, stating, “Hope, Dreams, and Resilience became a central conversation I wanted my work to represent.”

A Collaborative Project With Meaningful Impact

Supported by Mapletree Investments, the exhibition resonates with their commitment to corporate social responsibility. “We are delighted to contribute to this initiative that drives a positive impact through art,” said Mr. Edmund Cheng, Chairman of Mapletree.

UNIQLO Singapore’s Hwee Lee, Senior Director of Sustainability, expressed gratitude for the public’s involvement in the PEACE FOR ALL initiative. “Our collaborators are major figures who share this vision, and we are delighted to present this exceptional Magnum photos exhibition.”

New Designs to Commemorate the Exhibition

To celebrate the exhibition, UNIQLO will release three new PEACE FOR ALL T-shirt designs, showcasing the photographs from Vietnam, Ethiopia, and Romania. These designs, available from 20 September, support the ongoing humanitarian efforts featured in the exhibition.

The PEACE FOR ALL campaign has raised over JPY 1.5 billion (US$10 million) since its launch, benefiting organizations like UNHCR, Save the Children, and Plan International.
