The annual celebration aims to spread joy across the world, one scoop at a time
Singapore – On 8 April Ben & Jerry’s is throwing its annual Free Cone Day celebration, serving up free scoops of ice cream to fans around the world. During the much-loved tradition, Ben & Jerry’s aims to spread some joy across the globe, one ice cream filled cone at a time.
Last year fans showed up in record numbers, helping Ben & Jerry’s scoopers serve up over 1 million scoops of free ice cream; if you laid those cones down end to end, it would create an ice cream trail 130 kilometers long*! This year we want to go just as big, giving thanks to our fans with as much joy as possible in the form of chunky, swirly flavours.
Since its conception in 1979, Free Cone Day has been a way for Ben & Jerry’s to give back to the community that helped it grow from a single Scoop Shop in a renovated gas station in Burlington, Vermont, to one of the most beloved ice cream companies worldwide. What started as a simple “thank you” from co-founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield to fans for helping them survive their first Vermont winter, where average temperatures reached a record low of -10°C and the winter season snowfall set a record of 134 centimeters, Free Cone Day has turned into a global celebration, with fans lining up for free scoops in more than 35 countries.
Wondering how it works? Ice cream fans turn up at the Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shop at VivoCity on 8 April. Join the line and dream of which flavour to choose from – there’s a flavor sure to sweeten up everyone’s day, from a classic like Chocolate Fudge Brownie and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, a Scoop Shop exclusive like Berry Berry Extra Ordinary, or a Non-Dairy favourite like Strawberry Cheezecake. There’s a flavour for everyone – and most are halal-certified too! Fans are encouraged to get back in line as many times as they’d like so why choose one flavour when they can try them all!
Join us at our VivoCity Scoop Shop (1 HarbourFront Walk, #02-K1, Singapore 098585) to participate in Free Cone Day on 8 April, from 12pm to 8pm!
