A Pioneering Partnership in Luxury Retail

LVMH, the renowned French luxury house, has been in a groundbreaking partnership with Alibaba Cloud since 2019. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in the evolution of online luxury retail, integrating advanced digital intelligence and AI at every step of the customer journey. It’s a fusion of traditional luxury with modern technology, aiming to infuse greater agility and resilience into the supply chain.

Elevating Customer Experience with AI

In a recent video interview, Franck le Moal, Group IT Director and CIO of LVMH, elucidated the company’s efforts in leveraging Alibaba Cloud’s capabilities. Over 30 LVMH Maisons have adopted Alibaba Cloud’s products and services, demonstrating a commitment to redefining luxury retail for the AI era. This strategic move not only enhances the customer experience but also streamlines operations, setting a new standard in the industry.

Expansion into Southeast Asia

LVMH is not stopping at reshaping the European market. The luxury giant is extending its collaboration with Alibaba Cloud into Southeast Asia. This expansion is targeted to bolster the digital presence of Sephora and DFS in the region, promising an enhanced retail experience for customers in these growing markets.

Exploring Generative AI and Salesforce Integration

The partnership is also exploring new technological frontiers. Utilizing Tongyi Qianwen, Alibaba’s proprietary large language model, LVMH aims to delve into the potential of generative AI. Moreover, LVMH is interested in integrating Salesforce on Alibaba Cloud in China. This move is particularly focused on clienteling, CRM, and customer services, illustrating LVMH’s dedication to comprehensive customer engagement.

Franck le Moal highlighted this aspect, saying, “We see Alibaba Cloud as a global partner. And I want to mention it because you know that we are a big customer of Salesforce, and we are very happy to see the solid, ongoing partnership between Salesforce and Alibaba Cloud. So, the capability for Alibaba Cloud to act locally but also to act globally and to have a strategic partnership with our main partner from the U.S. is a great story. It’s a strong partnership and a strong consolidation between two tech giants who are really playing a big part in our technology ecosystem.”
