In its inaugural Work Change Snapshot 2024, LinkedIn reveals eye-opening trends around workplace transformation, highlighting the rapid pace at which job roles and required skills are evolving. Remarkably, 10% of roles filled in 2024 carry job titles unknown in 2000. This insight underlines the impact of technology—particularly generative AI—in reshaping roles, responsibilities, and skill requirements, especially across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.

The Rise of New Roles and Skills

Today’s workplace landscape demands adaptability, with positions like Sustainability Manager, AI Engineer, Data Scientist, and Customer Success Manager becoming standard. In APAC, generative AI is accelerating this shift, with projected skills changes reaching 70% by 2023—compared to 52% without AI’s influence.

LinkedIn’s report reflects APAC executives’ prioritization of AI tools, with 7 in 10 executives in India and Australia planning to amplify AI integration by 2025. A significant majority, 8 in 10 executives, acknowledge the urgency of adapting to these changes.

AI-Driven Soft Skills Development

The LinkedIn study reveals that beyond productivity, AI empowers employees with essential soft skills. Those proficient in generative AI are five times more likely to develop skills such as creative ideation, design thinking, and emotional intelligence. This transformation equips employees to better meet the challenges of today’s competitive workplace.

APAC Leading the Charge in Generative AI Usage

APAC knowledge workers are enthusiastically embracing generative AI, with 83% utilizing AI tools—well above the global average of 75%. Non-technical roles like Marketing Managers and Sales Managers increasingly rely on LinkedIn Learning to develop AI proficiency, a trend that shows no signs of slowing.

Supporting Professionals with New LinkedIn AI Tools

LinkedIn is rolling out new AI features to help professionals and marketers navigate this dynamic landscape.

1. AI-Powered Coaching on LinkedIn Learning

The new AI Coaching tool enables users to practice interpersonal skills in real-world scenarios, from performance reviews to work-life balance discussions. Expanding to languages like German, French, and Japanese, LinkedIn is broadening the accessibility of AI coaching.

2. Enhanced Accelerate Campaign Tools

The global launch of LinkedIn’s Accelerate brings an AI-driven campaign creation experience. Now supporting video and document ads, Accelerate empowers advertisers with more dynamic options to achieve objectives like brand awareness, engagement, and conversions.

3. Advanced Features for Live Event Ads

With the addition of Live Event Ads, marketers can boost event engagement by promoting attendee posts and targeting invitations based on region. These tools encourage a more personalized event experience, aiming to increase participation and engagement.
