Kicker Communications, the strategic communications consultancy for innovators, game-changers, and industry leaders, has appointed Stephanie Ryan as Client Director.
Stephanie is a senior communications professional with over 20 years of industry experience, with particular expertise in the technology sector, running communications at Intel Australia and New Zealand and Medtronic as well as consumer and lifestyle PR programs.
In the newly created role at Kicker, Stephanie will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive PR strategies and campaigns. She will act as a trusted advisor to senior executives, support new business development, and collaborate closely with the wider team to complement their existing expertise.
Over the course of her career, Stephanie has built strong media relationships, managed dozens of high-profile events, launched numerous technology firsts, and provided strategic counsel to senior leaders at global organisations. Starting her career on the agency side, she developed a solid foundation in identifying newsworthy stories, crafting compelling narratives, and simplifying complex solutions.
Also joining Kicker as Consultants are Christopher Kane and Alexandra Rutter, who both recently concluded Kicker’s paid internship program, which has attracted over 20 students from The University of Sydney, University of South Australia, The University of Adelaide, University of Technology Sydney and others over the years.
Kane graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Advanced Studies (Politics and Marketing) from The University of Sydney. He previously wrote for the university paper, Honi Soit, and served as Executive Events Director at the Sydney University Radio Group, where he also hosted a weekly radio show.
Rutter has a Bachelor of Contemporary Art and a Diploma in Languages (Japanese) from the University of South Australia. She has worked in social media for luxury jewellery brand MARLII LAB and USASA (UniSA Students Association), as well as media and marketing manager for MOSAIC Adelaide’s flagship multicultural festival.
The appointments come as Kicker celebrates several major client wins, including a global leader in AI-driven data management and enterprise cloud applications, the number one Out-of-Home media company worldwide JCDecaux, Australia’s leading deep tech incubator Cicada Innovations, national provider of whole-body MRI scans OneMRI and leading independent provider of heavy vehicle fleet maintenance TRUCK TECH.
“Joining Kicker is a brilliant opportunity to be part of a team working with clients at the forefront of new technologies and solutions and to help ensure their stories continue to make headlines,” Ryan said.
“Supporting Kicker’s tech and startup clients through the internship program has been an incredible learning opportunity. It’s great to join the team full-time to further develop my skills in strategic storytelling and media relations,” Kane said.
“I’m proud to join Kicker and continue my keen interest in communications, applying my art and writing background to my work. The internship program has not only been a huge learning experience, but it has focused my strengths and interests towards a career in PR and communications,” Rutter said.
“It’s great to have someone of Stephanie’s calibre join us at a time when we’re enjoying strong growth with multiple new and exciting clients. She has excellent media relationships along with extensive global experience, which is ideal for our portfolio,” said Fran Foo, co-founder of Kicker Communications. “Having Chris and Alexandra to strengthen the team is another win – they have both been outstanding as interns, and we look forward to helping them progress their careers as future communications leaders.”
Bringing together a team of seasoned content, media relations, and PR professionals, Kicker is on a mission to help organisations drive valuable business outcomes through strategic storytelling, with a focus on emerging technologies across artificial intelligence, healthtech, cybersecurity and space.
