Heinz, the popular ketchup brand, is on a mission to locate sailor Elvis Francois, who is also known as the “ketchup boat guy.” Reports say that Francois, who was lost at sea on a sailboat for 24 days, ate ketchup to stay alive. To celebrate his safe return home, Heinz has decided to gift him a new boat.

Tracking down an amazing man with an amazing story

Heinz has reached out to its followers on Instagram to help locate Francois. The company has asked fans to use the hashtag #FindTheKetchupBoatGuy to amplify the search. In a statement released on its official Instagram page, Heinz has praised the sailor’s bravery and his incredible story of survival.

Surviving on ketchup and spices for 24 days

According to media reports, Francois was repairing a yacht when the boat went adrift. He had no food onboard and was left with no choice but to survive on mixing up a bottle of ketchup, garlic powder, and Maggi (bouillon cubes) with some water. Prior to the sailor’s rescue by authorities in January of this year, his ordeal lasted for 24 days.

Saved by the coast guard

The coast guard saved Francois after a plane noticed the word “help” that he had written on his boat. A container ship picked him up, and he was eventually reunited with his family.

Heinz wants to celebrate Francois’ story

Heinz has said that it wants to give Francois a new boat as a way to honour his amazing story of survival. The brand has been praised by consumers for its initiative and for recognising the sailors’ bravery.

Consumers have praised the brand for its initiative and for recognising the sailor’s incredible story.
