Marami ang magbabago at iyon ang magiging “new normal” para sa ating lahat

Sa gitna ng nangyayaring COVID19 pandemic crisis na ito, kitang-kita at damang dama pa rin natin ang espirito ng bayanihan sa ating bansa. Lahat tayo ay apektado. Pero may mga taong mas apektado at nangangailangan kaysa sa atin. Hindi patas ang mundo pero hindi rin ibig sabihin na di ka na dapat tumulong sa kapwa tao mong nangangailangan.

Ngunit ano nga ba ang bayanihan? Ano ang kakaiba sa ugaling ito ng mga Pinoy? At paano ito ginagawa sa panahong hindi maaaring lumabas ang mga tao sa kanilang mga tahanan (social distancing rule)?

Ang salitang Bayanihan ay mula sa salitang ugat na bayani. Ito ay unang lumitaw noong 1745 mula sa “Vocabulario de la Lengua Tagala” nina Juan de Noceda, at Pedro de Sanlucar. Ito ay nangangahulugang “Obra Comun” or “group work”.

Ang madalas na representasyon nito ay ang ipinintang larawan ng mga grupo ng tao na nagbubuhat ng isang bahay-kubo. Dito pinapakita kung paano nakikiisa ang mga tao upang makatulong sa kanilang kapwa o isang pamilyang lilipat ng kanilang tahanan. Ito rin ay nagpapakita kung paano ginagawa ng mga Pinoy ang bolunterismo(volunteerism). Tumutulong sila ng walang kapalit o inaasahang kabayaran.

Sa pagtama at pagpasok sa Pilipinas ng COVID-19 pandemic, muling kinailangan ang bayanihan. Sa katunayan, may Bayanihan To Heal as One Act (Republic Act 11469) na umiiral sa Pilipinas ngayon sa loob ng tatlong buwan simula noong Marso 24, 2020. Ito ang naglagay sa Pilipinas sa ilalim ng national emergency at nagbigay din emergency powers sa aming pangulo.

Ngunit dahil sa dagsa ng mga pasyenteng may COVID-19, nagkulang ang mga personal protective equipment (PPE) sa mga hospital. Dahil dito, nagsimulang manawagan ang mga frontliners lalo na ang mga healthcare workers ng ayuda o tulong sa taumbayan gamit ang mga social media platforms tulad ng Facebook at Twitter. Hindi naman nag-atubiling tumulong ang may mga kakayahan. Nakakatuwa na makita ang iba’t ibang fundraising projects upang matulungan ang mga frontliners natin lalo na ang ating mga masisipag at masigasig na mga healthcare workers. 

Gamit ang digital way ng pagdodonate via bank transfers at fund transfers tulad ng GCash at PayMaya, nakaipon at marami ang natulungan ng mga advocacy groups. Nariyan din ang mga Facebook groups na tumutulong sa mga higit na tinamaan ng enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) period na ito. Nangunguna dyan ang Caritas Manila (namigay sila ng ?1000 Gift Certificate sa bawat bahay), Sponsor A Meal group (naging beneficiary kami ng grupong ito dahil hindi nakapaghanapbuhay ang tatay ko simula nung ECQ; nahatian at naabutan din namin ang dalawang munting pamilya mula sa kanilang pinaabot na tulong), Tulong sa mga construction workers, SuperTsuper, #PasokMgaSuki (para sa mga manininda o street vendors), at iba pa. Ang mga grupong ito ay naghahanap ng mas mabilisang paraan upang tulungan ang mga pamilyang Pilipino na makaraos sa araw-araw na pangangailangan habang hinihintay ang tulong mula sa pamahalaan. Umabot pa na pinagamit ng ibang GCash users ang kanilang mga accounts bilang tulay ng mga donasyon para sa mga kamag-anak nilang nangangailangan.

Lahat tayo ay apektado ng krisis na ito ngunit may mga itinuturo din itong aral sa atin.

  • Buhay pa rin ang Bayanihan sa ating bansa ngunit digital na sa tulong ng mga apps at fund transfers. Epektibo ito lalo na sa panahong hindi tayo makalabas sa ating bahay. Ineencourage ding gamitin ang cashless payment options via QR code sa mga groceries bilang contactless way of payment ngayong may epidemya.
  • Updated digitally na ang halos lahat ng bagay pati ang pagtulong sa ating kapwa ngayong panahon ng enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) kung saan kailangan sundin ang physical/social distancing.
  • Nakabubuti din sa atin ang pagiging social media savvy dahil maaari nating gamitin ito sa paggawa ng mabubuting hangarin o mga advocacies. Epektibo din ito upang maenganyong lumahok ang ibang tao sa inyong pag-momobilized.

Pagkatapos ng crisis na ito, hindi na tayo babalik sa normal nating pamumuhay. Marami ang magbabago at iyon ang magiging “new normal” para sa ating lahat.

Nawa’y kasabay ng mga pagbabagong iyon, hindi mawawala ang ating kagustuhang makatulong at tumulong sa ating kapwang nangangailangan. Wag natin patayin ang ugali nating magbayanihan lalo na ngayong pwede itong gawin digitally via social media sites/pages at gamit ang mga apps. Tandaan, lahat tayo ay maaaring maging bayani sa ating mga munting paraan.
