Singapore (14 November 2024) – Bumble, the women-first dating app, has announced its latest insights to guide singles in moving connections from digital to real life. Based on research from over 40,000 Gen Z and millennial Bumble members worldwide and in Singapore, the findings reveal a positive outlook on finding meaningful relationships. Bumble’s take? Despite shifting dating conversations, dating has remained strong, though our approaches to relationships have evolved significantly.

Bumble’s 2024 insights highlighted singles prioritizing emotional vulnerability and discarding outdated timelines, focusing on authenticity. Now, with 2025 ahead, women are defining what they want and what they won’t compromise in relationships.

Following a period of reflection and growth, singles have become more determined to find meaningful partnerships, with 80% of Singaporean singles aiming for a long-term relationship in the coming year. However, tolerance levels have shifted, with 64% of women globally committing to honesty and refusing to settle.

In the past year, the majority (87%) of Bumble users globally embraced dating’s positives, from the thrill of meeting someone new to discovering new qualities in a partner. Heading into 2025, singles are looking for romance, openness, shared values, and leaning on platonic friendships to navigate modern dating.

Bumble’s Dating Hot-Takes for 2025

  1. ? Micro-mance: Romance is redefined in 2025, moving from grand gestures to “micro-mance”—expressing love through small but impactful acts. More than half (52%) of women globally identify as romantics, with 39% of Singaporean women noting a lack of romance has hindered their dating lives. Acts like sharing playlists, inside jokes, and coffee walks have become key to showing affection, with Bumble’s “The quickest way to my heart is” prompt trending globally.
  2. ? DWM (Date With Me): Dating has become the new favorite reality show, with trends like GRWM, live-streamed break-ups, and post-date debriefs creating a culture of transparency. This trend is resonating in Singapore, with 50% of singles enjoying authentic dating content that captures highs and lows, inspiring healthier relationship goals and open conversations.
  3. ? On The Same (Fan) Page: Beyond sports, niche interests like book clubs, fandoms, and thrifting are making singles more attractive. Sixty percent of Singaporean singles find unique hobbies key to attraction, and 56% of Gen Z singles feel shared interests foster intimacy. Bumble’s recent addition of over 30 Interest Badges celebrates these quirks, allowing users to connect over hobbies directly on the app.
  4. ? Male-Casting: As conversations on masculinity evolve, one in three people agrees this year’s dating landscape featured more dialogue on male stereotypes. While these archetypes can create assumptions, Bumble research shows 53% of women believe men should define positive masculinity for themselves.
  5. ? Future-Proofing: Concerns over finances, housing, and climate are influencing dating, with 96% of Singaporean singles noting that worries about the future impact their relationships. In 2025, singles are focused on stability, and one in four women globally is initiating early discussions on finances, job security, and long-term planning.
  6. ? Guys That Get It: Male friendships are gaining importance in dating, with 31% of women sharing more openly with male friends. In Singapore, 59% of women rely on male friends to interpret dating behaviors, showcasing a growing role of healthy male friendships in dating support.

Chen Meihui, APAC Communications Lead at Bumble, commented, “2025 is going to be a transitional year for dating as singles, especially women, get very clear on what they want, what they need, and what they no longer tolerate in dating and relationships. There’s a significant shift towards transparency and finding someone who shares unique interests before committing.”
