The Most Promising EV Startups In India – 2022

India is a leader in the production and sale of automobiles. Recently, there has been an sudden influx of company’s entering this industry with new technologies, such as electric vehicles. As the world becomes more environmentally-conscious, many entrepreneurs are turning to electric vehicles. Many projects are underway in India. The country is preparing for a massive shift in how people work, travel and live. There are a few risks for electric vehicles in India. The cost and availability of electricity is one key point, as India still has a high need for new infrastructure.

Electric vehicles startups in India are at the forefront of developing environmentally-friendly vehicles. As they become more popular, countries are resolving to phase out gasoline vehicles & focus on hybrid and electric ones so that the environment can be saved.Hybrid cars are not only cost-effective but also highly efficient. There is no need to use gasoline with them because they are powered by an engine that runs on both electricity & gasoline. Electric vehicles, on the other hand, have no emissions and can be recharged using electricity from solar panels or through charging stations for public use. India has recently seen a surge in electric vehicle sales thanks to the government’s initiatives to promote clean, renewable energy.

Indian electric vehicle startups are offering a range of services to consumers, including electric mobility, sustainable mobility infrastructure, commercial electric transportation systems and energy management systems. In addition, they are providing support with the aim of reducing carbon emissions.

Here are some Indian startup that are helping keep the environment in good shape through technology and products. This list is not meant to be any kind of ranking, so be sure to check out the EV brands in Alphabetical order.

Ather Energy

Ather Energy is a startup founded by Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain in 2013. The founders had the idea to replace ICE with an EV which would have a much lower carbon footprint. Ather built India’s first smart and connected electric scooter. They believe that the future of personal transportation is going to be electric when it comes to getting around.

Ather’s product lineup currently includes the Ather 450X & 450Plus, public & private charging infrastructure, and innovative ownership plans. They are also looking for ways to increase our footprint in the coming months and be present in almost 40 cities.

BluSmart

BluSmart is India’s first and leading all-electric ride-hailing mobility service. BluSmart are on a mission to steer urban India towards a sustainable means of transportation and to provide them efficient, affordable, intelligent, safe and reliable mobility. With sustainability being at the core of BluSmart operations, their vision is to help transform the Indian cities by building a holistic and comprehensive electric on-demand mobility platform.

Emflux Motors

Emflux Motors was founded by a group of technology enthusiasts in 2016 who believe that Electric vehicles are going to fundamentally change the landscape of transportation. As per Emflux Motors ‘Electric technology has immense potential and is opening doors for many opportunities for mankind.’ Emflux Motors mission is to empower 10 Million electric two wheeler’s in India by 2027. Emflux Motors is currently focused on building brand, both through the motorcycle itself and with other partners OEMs who sell aftermarket parts for Emflux Motors bikes.

Euler Motors

Euler Motors is focused on sustainable last mile transport by accelerating the transition from internal combustion engines to new age electric vehicles and become a category leader for cargo and passenger vehicles. Euler Motors has a line of three-wheeler electric cars called the Euler HiLoad. They are great for use in commercial settings because their batteries can hold up to 688 kg of cargo. The company claims to be able to charge up in 15 minutes and cover a distance of 151 km on a single charge

Okinawa Autotech

Okinawa Autotech was established with the goal to make ‘India’ a major player in electric and sustainable mobility. Driven by their passion for innovation and making a difference, Mr. Jeetender Sharma – MD, and Mrs. Rupali Sharma – Chairperson, started Okinawa in 2015. Since then, the Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturing company has been living by the philosophy of ‘Made for India, in India’ and placing India on the global EV map.

OLA Electric

Ola Electric is India’s leading manufacturer of electric vehicles (EVs). Ola Electric aims to move the world to sustainable mobility through advanced electric vehicles it makes at its Futurefactory, which is powered with renewables. Bhavish Agarwal-led Ola Electric offers two-wheelers EVs and energy infrastructure. Founded in 2017, the EV startup manufacturing facility, Ola Future Factory, has a production capacity of 10 Mn two-wheeler EVs per annum, and deploys over 3000 robots. 

Revolt

Revolt offers sustainable mobility solutions across India. The startup manufactures AI-enabled EV bikes – RV 400 and RV 300. Its EV bikes are equipped with onboard charging and portable charging features. The RV 400 has a 3.24 KWh lithium battery which can be charged from the wall or on-board through the vehicle itself

The startup offers a Revolt Switch Station where riders can swap their own battery for a charged one. It has retail stores in multiple cities of India, including Jaipur, Surat, Bengaluru, Delhi, Pune, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Noida, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Visakhapatnam, Lucknow, Kochi and Hubli. 

Simple Energy

Simple Energy, is a Research and Development driven company on a Mission to develop the automotive & mobility products of the future, while they are simultaneously working towards reducing the costs of electric vehicles. This process allows them to release more affordable models and make them accessible to more people.

Tork Motors

Tork Motors is a high-performance electric vehicle and charging infrastructure manufacturing startup based out of Pune, India. Backed by a successful racing background and 8 years of groundbreaking research and development, TORK Motors will be launching India’s First Electric Motorcycle – ‘ KRATOS ‘. Proudly manufactured and assembled in India!

Yulu

Yulu is India’s largest shared micro-mobility service provider using electric two-wheelers to reduce traffic congestion and air pollution in urban India. Yulu service is actively used for the last-mile commute as well as last-mile deliveries, making a real impact on India’s goal of electrifying its mobility by 2030. Yulu’s mission is to create sustainable cities of tomorrow by revolutionizing the way people commute. Yulu’s technology-driven mobility platform uses IoT, ML, and AI for demand-supply management and efficient operations. Currently, Yulu is present in Bengaluru, Delhi NCR, and Greater Mumbai.
