Celebrating Togetherness: McDonald’sWelcomes Close to 200 Guests for Inclusive Buka Puasa Event

McDonald’s Singapore celebrated the spirit of Ramadan this evening by bringing together close to 200 guests from ComLink+ families and Marsiling residents from diverse backgrounds for a heartwarming Buka Puasa event. Held at Our Greenview Hub, 185 MSCP Woodlands St 13, Muslim families observing Ramadan and non-Muslim families were invited to share the joy of breaking fast and foster mutual understanding and community bonding.

Organised in partnership with Families for Life (FFL), Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF), People’s Association (PA) and Health Promotion Board (HPB), this event provided families and neighbours with an opportunity to connect, strengthen relationships, and create memories across generations.

The event was attended by Mr Zaqy Mohamad, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Defence & Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment, and Adviser to Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC Grassroots Organisations, who warmly chatted and interacted with the families present. 

“This event reflects our ongoing commitment to building bridges across communities. Sharing a meal is a simple yet powerful way to foster connection. We are privileged to host families from all walks of life, creating an opportunity to celebrate the spirit of empathy, generosity and unity that Ramadan represents,” said Linda Ming, Head of Brand Communications and Customer Care, McDonald’s Singapore.

Families were treated to a specially prepared Buka Puasa meal featuring McDonald’s favourites, including the McCrispy® Burgers, Filet-o-Fish® Burgers, and Sharing Boxes with the newly launched Spicy Chicken Tenders and Chicken McNuggets®. Beyond enjoying the meals, families penned down heartfelt messages of hope for the community and took part in a Buka Puasa trivia segment to learn and share more about the significance of Ramadan – reflecting the gratitude, unity and togetherness that define the season.

In the spirit of togetherness, the evening also spotlighted McDonald’s “Light a Lamp, Share a Table” initiative. Launched islandwide from 19 February, specially designed table lamps placed on dining tables in McDonald’s restaurants invite customers to signal that they are open to sharing their seats with those breaking fast.

More than just a visual cue, the lamps transform empty seats into open invitations, creating opportunities for strangers to come together over a meal and fostering inclusivity and cross-cultural understanding in a simple yet meaningful way.

Through initiatives like this, McDonald’s Singapore continues to champion meaningful experiences that bring people together and celebrate the rich diversity of Singapore. This Buka Puasa event, alongside the “Light a Lamp, Share a Table” initiative, exemplifies the brand’s ongoing commitment to fostering inclusivity, mutual respect and a strong sense of community.
