Dyson Unveils Cutting-Edge Hair Care Technology: Pre-Style Cream and Post-Style Serum with Chitosan Innovation

In a bold move that merges engineering with beauty, Dyson is set to launch their latest innovation in hair care: the Pre-Style Cream and Post-Style Serum. These products, debuting in Singapore this September, are engineered to offer unparalleled performance, incorporating the power of Chitosan derived from oyster mushrooms to deliver flexible all-day hold while enhancing the natural movement and shine of your hair.

The Science Behind Dyson’s Hair Care Innovation

Dyson’s approach to hair care distinguishes itself from traditional styling products. Instead of relying on simple polymers that bind hair strands together, Dyson’s advanced formulas work on a molecular level to support hair structure while allowing for natural movement.

“While some other styling products use simple polymers that stick the strands of hair together like glue, Dyson’s formulas work differently. When used in unison with the rest of the formulas, the complex macromolecule helps support hair with movement and shine,” shared James Dyson, highlighting the unique technology behind these products.

Chitosan: The Hero Ingredient

Central to this breakthrough is Chitosan, a potent ingredient derived from oyster mushrooms. This macromolecule has been rigorously tested to ensure optimal hold without compromising the natural flow of your hair.

“Our engineers have rigorously tested the percentage of Chitosan required to achieve a strong yet flexible hold, while maintaining natural movement,” explained Kathleen Pierce, one of Dyson’s lead engineers on the project.

Justina Mejia Montane further emphasized, “The power of up to eight oyster mushrooms in every formula ensures that each strand of hair moves naturally, with a lightweight hold and a natural shine.”

Tailored Solutions for Every Hair Type

Understanding that hair is as unique as a fingerprint, Dyson has formulated variants of their products to cater to different hair types. For lighter hair, Dyson incorporates grapeseed oil, while richer oils such as castor seed oil are used in variants for denser hair. This personalized approach ensures that every hair type receives the nourishment and support it needs.

“Hair is unique. We found through research that not one formula can do it all. Adapting the levels of polymers and emollients in each variant personalizes the formulas to your hair type,” said Will Kerr, a senior scientist at Dyson.

Available Soon in Singapore

Dyson’s Chitosan-based Pre-Style Cream and Post-Style Serum will be available in Singapore by September 2024. Priced at SGD79 each, these products will be available at Dyson Stores and online at Dyson.com.sg.

Matthew Collins, a renowned hair stylist, endorsed the new line saying, “The promise of movement and shine is an innovation that I know from over 20 years of work as a stylist is exactly why Dyson is a solution to common frustrations with their design of something for all hair types.”
