In a significant move to enhance the tourist experience in Singapore, Alipay+, a leading cross-border mobile payment digital platform by Ant International, has announced its latest expansion. This development comes with the introduction of new e-wallets in Singapore and an extended partnership with Resorts World Sentosa (RWS), just in time for the upcoming Chinese New Year festivities.

Key Highlights:

  • Expanded Payment Options: Alipay+ now supports six additional e-wallets, including Hipay (Mongolia), MPay (Macao SAR, China), MyPB by Public Bank (Malaysia), Toss Pay and Naver Pay (South Korea), and Tinaba (Italy), bringing the total to 12 international e-wallets accepted at RWS.
  • Enhanced Tourist Experience: The partnership aims to provide a seamless payment experience for Chinese and Asian tourists, allowing them to enjoy RWS attractions and stores with the convenience of their home e-wallets.
  • Exclusive Chinese New Year Promotions: Alipay users can enjoy special promotions, including a virtual RMB$128 red packet and discounts on Bai Jiu cocktails during the ‘Bai Jiu Shake Up’ event at RWS.

This strategic move is set to significantly benefit tourists by offering a more convenient and seamless payment experience. With the addition of new e-wallets, visitors from various countries can now make transactions effortlessly, using their preferred payment methods. This initiative not only caters to the convenience of tourists but also aligns with Singapore’s vision to become a more tourist-friendly destination.

The collaboration between Alipay+ and RWS is a testament to the ongoing efforts to enhance the digital payment ecosystem in Singapore. By accommodating more international e-wallets, RWS positions itself as a pioneer among Alipay+ merchants in Singapore, setting a benchmark for others to follow.

Moreover, the launch of exclusive promotions and campaigns for Alipay users during the Chinese New Year period is a smart move to attract more visitors. These incentives not only enhance the festive experience but also encourage tourists to explore more of what RWS has to offer.

Chang Chee Pey, Senior Vice President and Chief Experience Officer at RWS, highlighted the importance of this partnership in making payments more convenient for Chinese visitors, especially with the anticipated increase in tourism during key travel periods. On the other hand, Cherry Huang, General Manager of Alipay+ Offline Merchant Services at Ant International, emphasized the goal of enriching the digital travel experience for tourists through innovation and collaboration.

As Singapore gears up for a surge in tourism in 2024 and beyond, the strengthened Alipay+ ecosystem, supported by its payment partners and local collaborations, is poised to play a crucial role in facilitating growth. This initiative not only benefits the tourism sector but also supports local businesses by integrating them into a global payment network, ensuring they are well-equipped to welcome international visitors.
