Passionate about the process of building, nurturing and growing brands in today’s ever-evolving environment, has had 25 years of cross-category and cross-border experience in nurturing people and environments in which transformative work, brands and businesses thrive.
Work life has seen him operate acrosss Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai and Jakarta, with independent P&L charges across the last 15 years.
In Mumbai, Kapil was responsible for the successful launch of Vodafone in India and led its national integrated comms team at Ogilvy.
From 2013-19, he led the Ogilvy Group's North India operations, which featured its most successful showing at Cannes, record new business and the office growing to its largest ever size to date.
In his Delhi stint, he was involved in developing behaviour change communications for multiple Government initiatives and helped set up the Center for Social and Behaviour Change Communication in conjunction with the Gates Foundation, Ashoka and Harvard Universities and WPP.
In late 2019, Kapil took on the role of Co-Chairman and CEO of WPP India’s youngest creative agency, 82.5 Communications, based in Mumbai. Despite being a Covid baby, within four years, his team and he had built a strong second agency from the Ogilvy roster, with its own successful clientele and reputation of excellence.
In January 2024, Kapil moved to Ogilvy Indonesia to take charge as Chief Operating Officer, based out of the Jakarta office.
During his journey, Kapil has worked on some of the best Indian and Global brands - Raymond, TVS, Unilever teas, BCCL group, Titan, Vodafone, KFC, Pizza Hut, Pernod Ricard, Perfetti, Dabur, Sprite, Uber, BMW, Himalaya, RSPL, ACC, Nestle - and has had a key role to play in each of these brand journeys, including building some of the most memorable campaigns in the country - like Vodafone zoozoos, Happy to Help, BlackBerry Boys, Sprite Clear hai, BMW Don’t Postpone Joy, Imperial Blue Men Will be Men and Bisleri Camels, amongst others.
Kapil enjoys teaching and serves on the academic board of the Jagran Lake Institute of Media Studies, Bhopal. He has been teaching at IIM Calcutta for over a decade (PGP and MBAx batches) and also takes sessions at institutes like IIM Lucknow/Ranchi, ITM and NDIM periodically.
